About Us

Who We Are

NEMO Senior Citizens Services (NEMO SCS) has been proudly serving the Kirksville community since 1973. For over 50 years we have been providing consistent and compassionate care to our area seniors. Our mission is to offer social, recreational and life-sustaining services that empower seniors (ages 60+) to maintain their independence and safely
remain in their homes. NEMO SCS provides nutrition and in-home services thanks, in part, to federal and state funding, donations, grants and as an agency of United Way of Northeast Missouri.

Why What We Do Matters

Through these services, our dedicated staff members build meaningful relationships with individuals who are often
isolated. We believe that everyone deserves dignity, compassion, and a good quality of life—especially during the most vulnerable stages of aging. Whether it’s short-term help or ongoing support, a clean home or a warm meal—at some point, you or a loved one may need a helping hand. Our services are here to lift that burden, allowing families to focus on what matters most - caring for each other. Contacts made by staff members through the services offered help to provide wellness checks on a regular basis.

How You Can Help NEMO Senior Citizens Services

Although we ask individuals eating lunch in the dining room or those receiving meal delivery for a voluntary
contribution, we can assure you the actual meal costs are well over the requested amount. As everyone has
experienced, food costs have increased dramatically, and we are working hard to provide a nutritious meal at a very
reasonable cost. With that in mind, we greatly appreciate any additional donations, above and beyond the voluntary
contribution, to help support our mission. Individuals will be served regardless of their ability to contribute.

There are several different ways you can assist in supporting our organization:

Donations of cash or a check made out to the NEMO Senior Citizens Services
Memorial donations in honor of a loved one
Planned gifts to the NEMO Senior Citizens Services
Donate by going to Alliant Bank and letting the teller know you want to make a deposit into NEMO Senior Citizens Services money market fund.
